Department of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics
Conservative Dentistry is the subject that deals with the art and science of the diagnosis, treatment and prognosis of defects of teeth which do not require full coverage restorations for correction; such treatment should result in the restoration of proper tooth form, function and aesthetics while maintaining the physiological integrity of the teeth in harmonious relationship with adjacent hard and soft tissues; all of which enhance the general health and welfare of the patient.
Department Goal
The goal of the undergraduate curriculum in this subject to impart knowledge regarding
- The basic biology, pathophysiology and clinical presentation of the carious and non carious diseases.
- The planning of treatment protocols based on the finding from various diagnostic tools.
- The understanding of the instruments, equipments and the materials that are needed to restore the lost tooth structure.
- Execution of the treatment plan using various restorative modalities and materials based on minimal invasive philosophy.
- The recognition and identification of caries risk individuals using caries risk assessment protocols and institutional diseases and preventive measures as a main part of treatment option.
ENDODONTICS is the subject that deals with art and science of diagnosis treatment and prognosis of pulpally compromised teeth.
The goal of the undergraduate curriculum is the subject is to impart knowledge regarding:
- The basic pathophysiology and clinical presentation of all the pulpal and periapical disease caused by carious or a non carious disfigurement.
- The planning of treatment protocols based on the findings from various diagnostic tools.
- The execution of non surgical or surgical treatment using various endodontic material and modalities.
- Rationale in various steps in root canal therapy, the material and instruments that are used in this steps

Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons are specialists in the diagnosis and treatment of a broad range of disorders affecting the facial complex and skeleton, including the jaws and oral cavity.
Our expertise ranges from dental implant surgery and wisdom tooth removal to corrective jaw surgery. We incorporate techniques designed to rebuild bone structure with minimal surgical intervention and optimal patient comfort. We are also skilled in the diagnosis and treatment of facial pain, facial injuries, and fractures.
Our hospital-based training gives us experience in airway management, endotracheal intubation, maintaining intravenous lines and the expert management of any complication and / or unexpected emergency

Department of Oral Medicine & Radiology
Oral Medicine is the specialty of dentistry concerned with the oral health care of patients with chronic, recurrent and medically related disorders of the oral and maxillofacial region, and with their diagnosis and non-surgical management. Oral Medicine sits at the interface between dentistry and medicine.
Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology is that specialty of Dentistry concerned with performance and interpretation of diagnostic imaging used for examining the craniofacial, dental and adjacent structures.
The Scope of this specialty is to give clinical diagnosis of oral diseases, early detection of mucosal, Precancerious & Cancerous lesions of oral cavity, TMJ disorders, Orofacial Pain and their management.
Radiological and imageological workup of oral diseases and give a radiological diagnosis.
Dental management of medically compromised patients.
Special counseling for Tobacco de-addiction.

Department of Oral Pathology and Microbiology
Oral and maxillofacial pathology deals with the diseases of the mouth, jaws and related structures such as salivary glands, tempromandibular joints, facial muscles and perioral skin.It is a science that investigates the causes, processes, and effects of these diseases. The practice of oral pathology includes research and diagnosis of diseases using clinical, radiographic, microscopic, biochemical, or other examinations. According to DCI (Dental council of India) Department of Oral pathology and microbiology deals with two subjects one dental anatomy and dental histology for Ist BDS course and Oral pathology and microbiology for IIIrd BDS course.

Department of Orthodontics
Orthodontics is the branch of dentistry that corrects teeth and jaws that are positioned improperly. Crooked teeth and teeth that do not fit together correctly are harder to keep clean, are at risk of being lost early due to tooth decay and periodontal disease, and cause extra stress on the chewing muscles that can lead to headaches, TMJ syndrome and neck, shoulder and back pain. Teeth that are crooked or not in the right place can also detract from one's appearance.
The department has following special equipments at our disposal:
- Hydrosoldering unit
- Biostar vacuum forming unit
- Computerized Cephalometric software for diagnosis and treatment simulation
Teaching Innovations:Periodic clinical audits are carried out to assess cases treated with Lingual orthodontics and temporary anchorage devices (TADs) to guide the students during treatment delivery. Regular workshops and CDEs are conducted tokeep the students abreast with latest trends in clinical and research areas of orthodontics.

Department of Pedodontics
The Objectives: The department caters to the oral health needs of infants and children through adolescence including those with special care needs, the target population being 14 ears and below. To detect and treat all entail diseases and abnormal conditions in their early stages.
To provide quality dental treatment to children. To cater to the diverse oral health care needs of children. To provide quality teaching to the students, update knowledge and promote research.
The Goal: to give each child patient primary and comprehensive preventive and therapeutic dental care. To instil in every child a positive approach towards dental treatment. To guide and motivate children in inculcating good oral health habits that will prevent and control dental diseases. Comprehensive monitoring of the developing dentition in a child and applying suitable measures to guide it to normal occlusion. To create not only a good patient but a good citizen of tomorrow.

Department of Periodontics
Periodontology deals with various gum surgeries, correction and enhancement of soft tissue esthetics of the patient, Implants and use of advanced surgical equipments including LASERS and Piezosurgery.
The department of Periodontology has separate well equipped undergraduate and postgraduate training sections with more than 50 modern electrically operated dental chairs. Advanced surgical equipments like piezoelectric surgical unit, implant and sinus lift kits, diode laser, radiovisiography (RVG) machine and centrifuge machine to procure PRF are the additional facilities available in the department. Faculty is actively involved in organizing various workshops and hands-on courses for graduates and postgraduates at the State and National level conferences.
The undergraduate students are trained in diagnosing periodontal diseases and providing first line of treatment. More advanced cases like implants and soft tissue surgeries are performed by postgraduates and staff.
Department of Prosthodontics
The Department of Prosthodontics and Crown & Bridge offers diagnosis, treatment planning, rehabilitation and maintenance of the oral function, while ensuring comfort, appearance and health of patients with clinical conditions associated with missing or deficient teeth. It specialises in implant, aesthetic and reconstructive dentistry. Restoration of oral function is done through prostheses and restorations (i.e., complete dentures, crowns, implant retained/supported restorations).
The department focuses not just on patient care, but also gives equal emphasis to innovative teaching methodologies and research.
